Updating my notes from last week:
The Paul Staugler Memorial Recreational Trail is being finished up for the winter season as all hard surface has been installed, dirt work all roughed in and some general clean up being finished up this week. We will be working on the lighting over the next couple weeks and then will return in the spring to complete the final dirt work and seeding. It has been a very popular place over the past few weeks with the mild weather we have enjoyed and it is great to see it getting use. Thanks again to ODNR and the Staugler family for their contributions to the trail project.
Bids were opened and contract was awarded for the Sharpsburg Road Utility Extension project. Shinn Bros. Inc from Celina provided the low bid of right at $125,000 which was well under the engineer’s estimate of $171,000. That work will be completed sometime between now and next May.
Bids are going out next week to purchase the lagoon baffles/curtains with the bid opening scheduled for December 1st. This is another project that will keep our existing facilities working as efficiently and cost effectively as we see growth in the future.
Don’t forget the Merchants Christmas Open House this Sunday, November 13th which will take place from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. Also, don’t forget to acknowledge the service and dedication of our many local veterans as we celebrate Veteran’s Day this Friday. Thank you to all past and present veterans!
On a final note, the village administration wishes to provide our sincerest thank you to the citizens for supporting the renewal levies that were passed at this year’s election. We do not take this backing for granted and are gracious of the continued support as we look for ways to make improvements and better our community. Your confirmation of our efforts is truly appreciated.
